I can't believe so many girls are serving missions from my graduating class! It's insane! It makes me excited that there are so many kids my age excited about the work and willing to give up this time to help others come unto Christ! It's a sacrifice, but so worth it! I can't wait for the reunion when I see my friends again and we can share experiences and know we were separated for that time to help the Lord! In Alma 17 it talks about the Sons of Mosiah. They separated to teach the gospel to the Lamanites. In verse 13 it says: "they separated themselves and departed one from another, trusting in the Lord that they should meet again at the close of their harvest; for they supposed that great was the work which they had undertaken." I love that verse. It gives me peace, knowing the Lord will protect each of us missionaries and family members as we embark in the work of the Lord. It is a great and marvelous work and I'm so grateful to be a small part of it! I know my family is being taken care of. The Lord has you under his wing right now. Even when things seem messy or tough, He is right there. Rely on Him. Use the Atonement to get through everything!
I think a lot of people are afraid to use the Atonement to overcome everything. The Savior suffered, not so we could only overcome the BIG things through him, but rather so we can overcome every little thing in Him. He felt all things. He suffered every pain, affliction and heart break. There is so much Atonement for us to use, but we only feel able to use a small portion. In a lesson with Heather, our investigator, we had Sister Blanton join us. She bore strong testimony of how the Atonement can support us through all things. This isn't the first time she has talked about this with me around. Every lesson we have with her or any time we spend time at her house, she shares her testimony on the atonement. It is for everyone and it is for everything. Often we might think we are not worthy to use the atonement, or that the thing we are struggling with is too small for God to care. It's not true. He cares about his sons and daughters, therefore, the things which worry us are important to him because they are important to us. I know the Savior suffered for our sins that we may be perfected in Him. He is there to lend us a hand and buoy us up any time we ask.
Anyway, that's my message for this week. Use the atonement! It's there for us to use always! It will help you grow closer to the Savior and overcome your weaknesses.
Have a good week!
