Well... we are so relieved to be staying in Columbus. It was a struggle. We struggled all transfer but this new transfer will be great! We are starting to see some progression finally. We met Brett, who is a teenager (just graduated) who has been coming to church for a while. He isn't baptized and the whole ward is confused about him because he acts like he is! He fits in so well, like he was baptized a long time ago. He comes by himself and hangs out with a family or two in the ward. Anyway, we have been trying to meet him all transfer but we finally did yesterday! We are excited to work with him!
We went out to Nashville on Tuesday. Its a little tourist town with old shops and antique stores. I was having a tough couple of weeks. So, we had the most amazing ice cream at a little ice cream shop. It was so good. I obeyed Mom and got two scoops! It was so wonderful! I am a lot happier now. I got a blessing from Elder Blood. It was really tender and helpful. The priesthood is so cool. I love that God has given man the authority to bless others and give them SPECIFIC blessings of comfort and health. It's been a great support.
We had MLC this week too. President trained us on faith. Our mission works hard, but as a whole we just go through the motions. I have felt that way. I go through the motions. But this week I have been studying faith more and trying to pray more often for guidance. I haven't seen a ton of results yet, but I know the Lord is happier with me for trying to call on him and be more humble and faithful. I know blessings come from being obedient out of love instead of fear of the consequences.
We are going out with a recent convert in the 2nd ward. She is so great. They called her as a ward missionary when the ward had sisters but now they only have elders so she can't really go out with them. The other ward asked if we could take her to lessons and tracting and stuff. We visited her and let me just say, she is like my favorite person ever. We have so much fun! We love her! Her name is Michelle. She has an interesting back story, but it's amazing to see how the atonement of Jesus Christ has helped her change into the person she wants to be and who the Father wants her to be. She is totally different than the person she describes she used to be. She reminds me a little bit of Al Fox Carraway. She's so sweet!
Mallory is doing well. We haven't been able to see her consistently because of scheduling junk, but she still wants to meet! It's hard because she is 15 so her mom makes all of the decisions for her. She is so sincere and genuine about wanting to learn and grow in the gospel. We visited her to talk about Repentance, per her request, with Michelle on Wednesday. She loved it. In the closing prayer, she said "Thank you for bringing the sisters and Michelle. And thank you for her sharing her story. I really needed it." Her story was about repentance and how the atonement helped her. Mallory is so sweet! The youth of this generation and so close to the spirit and yearn for the guidance of the Holy Ghost! It is a privilege to work with them so closely!
Ta-ta for now!
Love,
Sister Mondragon
1. We got caught in a 5 minute rain storm which completely drenched us in the 20 seconds it took to run to the car, then we got our umbrellas and it stopped raining as we walked to the next door.
2. This is Michelle <3 She is my love!
3. Look at this teeny-tiny turtle. We met Arlo at a members home last night. Apparently these guys just hang out on the side of a running trail here in Columbus. They caught two of them. Williams about died.
