I'm doing so good! Mom, the temple is so amazing. I've learned so much during my time working there. Families are so important. As people come in and ask questions about eternal families and sealings, all I can think is how grateful I am to be sealed to you, Dad, and the boys. I'm so grateful for the unique situation we had, even though it might've been worrisome for you. Getting to be sealed to my family and actually participate in the sealing inside the temple is a great tool I have in relating to people and helping them understand. I seriously have gained a greater understanding of my own covenants and promises with Heavenly Father.
It's hard to see people who aren't of our faith who ask these questions about eternal families and know that they haven't been sealed to their own families. It makes this work so much more important and gives me a deeper purpose. No matter what you believe, almost everyone wants to be with their family forever. It's a comfort to know I will be with you forever.
I can't believe we are finishing the 6th week in Indiana. It's crazy to think this is my home for 17 more months...
We haven't been able to spend a lot of time in our area, so the work is a little blah. We are always busy, but we don't get anything done... We spend a lot of time with the elders in our area, doing service or something.
I had a really cool experience at the temple yesterday. I was talking to two women. They were so inquisitive. I tried so hard to answer their questions the best way possible. Eventually we started talking about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. We have a supply of them in the back of the tent, so I ran to grab one. As I was talking about it, one asked me if I would share a passage from the book. I flipped through the pages without a single thought of a good scripture. i was praying in my head to find something that would help them. I stopped on 2 Nephi 27. I read the heading where it said "Darkness and apostasy shall cover the earth in the last days--The Book of Mormon shall come forth--". As I read that, it was clear I needed to share the part about the Book of Mormon. I explained the first part of the chapter, then read verses 6-9. They prophesy about a prophet coming forth with the book through the power of God for the people of the future times. I explained a little and then checked for their understanding. They understood it, so I read the Moroni challenge (Moroni 10:3-5). Eventually, they asked for the Book of Mormon to read. It was so cool to feel the spirit teach them through my voice. It had nothing to do with me. I was a tool for the Holy Ghost to use in teaching them. It was a wonderful learning experience for me too!
